‘King of the Hill' and WD-40 to Commemorate Iconic 1998 Scene
It's arguably one of the most iconic scenes in King of the Hill, and any true fan will vividly remember it.
It was in season 2, episode 15 titled "Three Days of the Kahndo" when Hank famously and hilariously tries to open a full-size can of WD-40 but struggles to pry the cap open. His solution? Pull out a smaller WD-40 can from his holster, spray the full-size cap to lubricate it, and pry it off with ease.
And just like that, WD-40 became synonymous with the FOX hit.
In honor of that iconic scene that aired in 1998 and in anticipation of the 15th season premiering this summer on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+, a King of the Hill-themed WD-40 will be introduced at The Home Depot, available for purchase later this year.
King of the Hill collaborating with WD-40 made too much sense. It's no wonder that, after WD-40 asked fans on social media what they wanted to see on a limited-edition can, King of the Hill emerged as the top response.
After all, that wasn't the only time WD-40 appeared on the iconic show. The brand made its first appearance during the series premiere, too.
"The collectible can celebrates the real-world 'Hanks' -- DIYers, everyday people, pros, and anyone who can get the Job Done Right," the brand says in a statement.
"WD-40 Multi-Use Product has been a trusted solution for more than 70 years, and our end users have always been at the heart of everything we do," said Patricia Olsem, Division President, Americas, at WD-40 Company. "The limited-edition can is a celebration of our fans and a way to honor a piece of the brand’s legacy."
The limited-edition can will be available exclusively at The Home Depot from June 1 to Aug. 31, nationwide, while supplies last.
King of the Hill collaborations are pretty popular. It was last June when it was reported that a popular brewery in San Antonio, Texas, was bringing King of the Hill's fictional "Alamo" beer to life.
