I’m sure that in 1977, when Episode IV: A New Hope first hit theaters, every kid (and adult) wanted to have their own personal droid. It would be incredibly cool to have it follow you around, assist you when trouble arose, and make adorable little beeps and boop noises as R2-D2 did. Now, almost 50 years later, it’s finally a reality — well, sort of.
Introducing the new Grogu™ gitamini, “a cargo-carrying” robot that follows its leader anywhere. Brought to you by Piaggio Fast Forward, a tech company that specializes in “robots designed to collaborate with people,” according to the brand’s page. Unlike R2-D2 or BB-8, the Grogu™ gitamini can’t keep fighter jets functioning or have unique tools that can pop out of them. But what it can do is be your carrying companion that can hold up to 20 pounds of gear as it follows you (almost) everywhere, while looking very similar to Grogu’s iconic pram in The Mandalorian.
Next to looking like every Star Wars and The Mandalorian fan’s dream piece of machinery, the gitamini droid is equipped with cameras and sensors all around its exterior so it can identify obstacles in its way, but more importantly, you — it’s leader (or even Jedi master, if you will). With its technology, it can travel at a top speed of 6 miles per hour for up to 7 hours, or up to 21 miles. It takes only 2 hours to charge, supports streaming music, connects to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and has a USB charging port.
Given that this is a literal robot, it’s easy to understand why it’s close to $3,000. But because it can help you and looks similar to a Star Wars droid, it’s priceless to any fan. As of now, you can find the Grogu™ gitamini Droid only on PiaggioFastForward.com and DisneyStore.com. Below, take another look at the new robot among other galaxy-inspired must-haves for Star Wars Day 2026.
