Ex-horticulture officer jailed for 3 years for funds bungling
A retired assistant horticulture officer in Balasore has been sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 50,000 for misappropriating government funds. Prasanta Kumar Mishra was convicted of embezzling Rs 2.10 lakh meant for beneficiaries under the National Horticulture Mission scheme between 2007 and 2008. The funds were neither distributed nor properly accounted for.
