Stephen Curry's Animated Film 'GOAT' Arrives on Netflix May 14 with Star-Studded Cast
Starting tomorrow, Netflix will add a significant number of movies and television series to its library throughout the month of May. One of the films coming to the platform is GOAT, the 2026 animated sports comedy film produced by Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry.
What's on Netflix's Kasey Moore broke the news on GOAT's upcoming Netflix debut. Directed by Tyree Dillihay and written by Aaron Buchsbaum and Teddy Riley, GOAT was released in February and was a box office success, grossing around $191 million worldwide, more than twice the film's budget.
'GOAT': What to know
The movie stars Caleb McLaughlin (Stranger Things' Lucas Sinclair) as protagonist Will Harris, an anthropomorphic pygmy goat who dreams of becoming a star in the basketball-like sport of roarball.
The cast is star-studded, with Gabrielle Union, David Harbour, Nicola Coughlan, Aaron Pierre, Patton Oswalt, Jelly Roll, Nick Kroll, Jennifer Hudson and Jenifer Lewis all lending their vocal talents.
Several basketball stars also provide their voices, including Curry himself, along with Kevin Love, Angel Reese, A'ja Wilson, Dwyane Wade and Andre Iguodala.
GOAT currently holds an 85% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, along with 60% on Metacritic and grades of 3.4/5 on Letterboxd and 6.7/10 on IMDB.
“It has something in there for every generation,” Curry told USA TODAY prior to the movie's release. “We’re bringing something that hopefully is inspiring, something that brings family together, and something that's uplifting to a lot of different people in the audience that can find their best selves through one of the characters.”
When will 'GOAT' arrive on Netflix?
The US Netflix debut for GOAT is set for Thursday, May 14. What's on Netflix reports the film will stream on Netflix for 18 months until moving over to Disney/Hulu properties late in 2027.
"For Netflix India users: This May 14th date usually applies to your region as well," What's on Netflix said. "For the UK and Canada, the wait is often much longer. In the UK, Sony movies typically arrive on Sky/Now TV first, meaning Netflix subscribers may have to wait approximately two years after the initial theatrical release."
