Nara Smith & Hudson Williams Are Hollywood's Most Unlikely New Pairing
It turns out making homemade bubble gum, Coca-Cola, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch for your kids in couture gowns might be the new fast track to Hollywood. Or maybe that was just the case for Nara Smith.
The TikTok star whose viral homemaker videos made her synonymous with the “tradwife” movement, a label she rejects, is stepping out of her kitchen and onto the set of a movie co-starring Heated Rivalry’s Hudson Williams.
Per Deadline, Smith and Williams will star in Tyrant, an upcoming “culinary thriller” movie from David Weil. I May Destroy You‘s Paapa Essiedu and musician Omar Apollo were also announced as cast members, added to a previously announced lineup that includes Charlize Theron, Julia Garner, and Demi Moore.
Character and plot details remain under wraps, but it is expected to be a high-stakes thriller set in New York City’s elite fine dining scene. You may see how Smith fits in now.
Smith was once most known as one-half of a Mormon influencer couple with her husband, Lucky Blue Smith, but after a series of viral, intricate, labor-intensive cooking videos in late 2023 (and her equally viral baby name choices for her children), Smith’s content became primarily focused on cooking.
Amid the rise of conservatism in influencer culture, Smith became associated with other so-called “tradwives,” namely Hannah Neelman (aka Ballerina Farm), but the German-born model questioned the label in a 2024 interview on TODAY, via People.
“I don’t understand where that came from because I’m a working mom,” Smith explained. “I work, take care of my kids, and cooking is my passion. I love cooking, just showing that to people, so I never understand where that comes from.”
Her parlay into acting is decidedly not “trad,” but she’s balancing that career venture with one much closer to her brand, a newly announced cookbook which is to be released in October. It is aptly titled Homemade.
