McDonald's Is Hopping On the Dirty Soda Trend With the Addition of 6 New Permanent Drink Items
Ever since the cast of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast popularized “dirty soda” as an alternative to coffee or alcohol (prohibited in the Mormon faith), the trend has seemingly taken off. While Starbucks has always had fantastic drink options, other restaurants are jumping on the bandwagon too, like Chick-fil-A. Now, McDonald’s is jumping on the trend. They just added six new permanent drink items to their menu that are fruity and full of caffeine.
Starting May 6, you can choose from three new Refreshes and three new crafted sodas with your burgers and fries. The Refreshers include Strawberry Watermelon Refresher, made with lemonade and freeze-dried strawberries; Mango Pineapple Refresher, with strawberry popping boba; and Blueberry Passion Fruit Refresher, with freeze-dried dragon fruit. As for the crafted sodas, you can get Sprite Berry Blast, with blue raspberry syrup and cold foam; Orange Dream, a twist on the Hi-C Orange Lavaburst with vanilla and cold foam; and Dirty Dr Pepper, with vanilla and cold foam.
“Our fans have an obsession with beverages – to them, drinks are more than just drinks. And soon, our beverages won’t just be a reason you come to McDonald’s, they’ll be the reason,” Alyssa Buetikofer, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer, McDonald’s USA, said in a press release.
If fun drinks are part of your lifestyle like the women on Secret Lives, then you obviously need an accessory to go with them. McDonalds partnered with Susan Alexandra to create six beaded drink carriers in bright summer colors that will carry your new drink for you, to free your hands when running around with the kids. Seriously, you’ll want to head to the Golden Arches every day to get one of these flavorful new drinks (and you won’t hear any judgments from us!).
