UTM Appoints Mtumbuka as Director of Ethics, Ideology
The Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the UTM Party has appointed Hon. Engineer Dr Matthews Mtumbuka, Member of Parliament for Rumphi Central Constituency, as Director of Ethics and Ideology.
The CEC, the party’s main decision-making body, recently met to make appointments to various positions.
Dr Mtumbuka previously contested for the UTM presidential candidacy at the party’s convention held on November 17, 2024.
He was later handpicked by UTM President Dr Dalitso Kabambe as his running mate ahead of the September 16 general elections.
Reacting to the development, Dr. Mtumbuka thanked the party for considering him adding that it signifies sustained trust of the UTM party in him.
UTM Secretary General Willett Karonga announced during the final campaign rally of the March 17 by-elections in Rumphi that the party will maintain Dr Kabambe as its presidential candidate for the 2030 elections, with Dr Mtumbuka as his running mate.
The party has also appointed several other members to different positions, including Catherine Nyangulu, Tendai Gama, Sam Chirwa, and Tamala Nyahonda, among others.
