THE LOWDOWN
Sunday afternoon’s encounter in Leith presents an opportunity for Head Coach David Gray’s side to bounce back from the disappointing 2-1 Edinburgh derby defeat to Hearts last time out.
We took the lead early on through Martin Boyle, but would be forced to play the majority of the match with ten men, and then nine-men in the second half after Raphael Sallinger and Felix Passlack were sent off.
In the end, Hearts made their numerical advantage count with two goals in the last half hour to claim all three points.
That result leaves us fifth in the William Hill Premiership table, six points behind Motherwell in fourth, and five clear of Falkirk.
THE VISITORS
Martin O’Neill’s side are second in the Premiership table and are just three points behind Hearts with four games remaining.
Having defeated Falkirk 3-1 last weekend, courtesy of Daizen Maeda's double and a Kieran Tierney effort, Celtic arrive in Leith in good form and with confidence.
Before then, the Hoops progressed to the Scottish Gas Men’s Scottish Cup Final with a 6-2 win over St Mirren at Hampden Park.
The last time we met with Celtic, back in February 2026, the Hibees secured their first win at Celtic Park in 16 years.
Passlack's opener was cancelled out by Benjamin Nygren, but Kai Andrews grabbed a late winner for Gray’s side after the hosts had Auston Trusty sent off.
Earlier in the season, two first-half goals from Maeda and Arne Engels helped Celtic defeat us at Easter Road, despite Boyle hauling us back into the game from the penalty spot after 56 minutes.
TEAM NEWS
Josh Mulligan, Munashe Garananga and Rudi Molotnikov were all unavailable for our last match against Hearts, while the Hibees will be without Grant Hanley, with the defender serving the second of a two-game ban.
As well as Hanley, we will be without Sallinger and Passlack following their red cards in the Edinburgh derby.
Head Coach David Gray will provide a squad update to the media ahead of the fixture on Thursday afternoon at HTC.
