Just in: 21yo Man United star set to sign new contract today, his family is at Carrington
Manchester United are set to receive a huge boost ahead of the decisive final stretch of the season.
According to reports, Man United wonderkid Kobbie Mainoo and his family are at Carrington today to put pen to paper on a new contract.
Mainoo is now reportedly set to earn £135,000 per week, with lucrative performance-based bonuses potentially taking his salary even higher.
His new deal is expected to keep him at Old Trafford until 2031.
After significant progress in the latest round of negotiations over the past week, the young sensation now looks ready to commit his long-term future to the club.
The 2025-26 season has been a rollercoaster ride for Mainoo.
He was harshly overlooked by former manager Ruben Amorim during the first half of the season.
The 21-year-old was not handed a single Premier League start by Amorim this term.
The Portuguese head coach wanted Mainoo to do the impossible by replacing club captain Bruno Fernandes.
Frustrated by his lack of opportunities, Mainoo reportedly submitted a loan request last summer. However, INEOS stepped in and blocked any possible exit.
Everything changed under Michael Carrick after he took charge in January.
The United academy graduate has started 12 of the 13 games under Carrick, missing only the clash against Leeds United through injury.
Mainoo has elevated his game to another level in the last two outings against Chelsea and Brentford.
He produced a Man of the Match performance at Stamford Bridge and then dominated midfield alongside Casemiro when Brentford came to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are expected to overhaul their midfield this summer, but Mainoo must be the centrepiece of that rebuild.
He is a generational talent, and there is arguably no central midfielder in his age bracket better than him.
