Morning Briefing: Mets Promote Ewing to Triple-A
Good morning, Mets fans!
Through the Mets’ well-documented struggles, No. 85-ranked prospect A.J. Ewing has been scorching hot, slashing .349/.481/.571 with two home runs and 12 stolen bases. Due to his success, as Mike Mayer of MMO reported, the 21-year-old has been promoted to Triple-A Syracuse.
Should the big league club continue to struggle in the coming months, it is possible that with success at the next level, several Mets top prospects could make their major league debuts before the end of the season.

After Monday’s much-needed off-day, the Mets will resume action at home on Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. EST against the Washington Nationals. Clay Holmes will take the mound in the series opener, looking to improve on his stellar start to 2026. The Mets, who sit at a major-league worst 9-19, will look to turn things around, particularly on the offensive side, against a Nationals staff that is last in the National League in staff ERA.
The Mets announced a series of roster moves including the signing of Austin Slater to a major league contract, Tommy Pham being designated for assignment and claiming Eric Wagaman from the Twins.
