Benjamin Sesko backs 44yo to become permanent Man Utd manager after Brentford win
Manchester United star Benjamin Sesko has sent a clear message to INEOS.
Sesko has publicly backed interim head coach Michael Carrick to land the permanent job next season.
INEOS handed Carrick the reins on an interim basis after sacking Ruben Amorim in January.
The 22-year-old said after the 2-1 victory against Brentford (via Manchester Evening News): “Of course, he’s an amazing coach, I’ve said this many times.
“He’s brought different energy. Also, the way we’re doing in the training, it’s unbelievable, and of course, I would like to have him here.”
Carrick looks poised for the full-time role
The 44-year-old has managed the club for the last 13 games, which have included nine wins and two draws.
He has already guided United to statement victories over Manchester City, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Chelsea.
Since taking charge at Old Trafford, no other club has collected more Premier League points.
Carrick has restored a positive, front-footed and attacking mentality within the squad.
Thomas Tuchel was the first-choice candidate for next season, but he signed a contract extension with England.
Carlo Ancelotti was another elite option, but he now looks set to extend his stay with Brazil.
Julian Nagelsmann remains under consideration, but appointing another young manager would carry significant risk.
Luis Enrique is the dream appointment, but it seems highly unlikely he would leave Paris Saint-Germain.
Carrick has emerged as the clear front-runner and could be confirmed as permanent head coach when the season concludes.
United face Liverpool next and another victory for the Red Devils will leave INEOS with no alternative.
