Queen’s Park v Hearts – Scottish Youth Cup Final Preview

QUEEN’S PARK FC contest the club’s first ever Scottish Youth Cup Final on Tuesday night.

Heart of Midlothian are opponents for Charley King’s side in the match at Barclays Hampden, which will be broadcast live by BBC Scotland.

More than 2,000 spectators will be inside the National Stadium – the majority in black and white supporting then Wee Spiders.

The southsiders have more than earned this historic debut – seeing off Queen of the South, Rangers, Musselburgh Athletic and Aberdeen on the way.

The squad is made of a mix from both the under-17s and eligible under-18 players from the under-19s – both squads are chasing titles at Advanced Youth Level this season.

Kick off, against CAS Elite level Hearts, is 7.20pm.

The Season so far...

This season has been a huge success for the Queen’s Park youth sides under the tutelage of Charley King and Lee Mitchell.

Entering the CAS Advanced Youth League at under-17 and under-19 level the Young Spiders and the Wee Spiders are both in the mix for league titles.

Not only that, they’re each in the CAS Cup final too, next month.

However it’s this one, with an amalgamated squad of eligible under-19s and under-17s which has negotiated the road to Hampden and earned the club a first final.

The mix is nothing new. Players have stepped up from the 17s to 19s, and further with the likes of Cole Goldie, Kyle Rodger and Cole Burke making first team debuts this season.

Nothing has been won yet, but to be in the mix at the end of April is a huge cause for optimism for the youth and future at Queen’s Park and testament to the work being carried out at Lochinch by both squads and staff.

Goalscorers
