Cup Final Dress Rehearsal As Wee Hibees Face St Mirren
The wee Hibees will face St Mirren in a dress rehearsal of next month's League Cup Final as two meet at HTC this midweek in the CAS Elite U19 League.
THE LOWDOWN
Darren McGregor's side are seeking a fifth consecutive competitive victory when the Buddies visit East Lothian at Tuesday tea-time.
Wins over Motherwell, Celtic and Rangers preceded our 4-1 League Cup Semi-Final triumph over Dundee United at Foundation Park last week.
The wee Hibees, who were missing several regular starters, built up a four-goal lead in Dundee through Jamie McMurdo's stellar hat-trick and a terrific Dean Cleland strike.
The home team struck back late on but the smart finish from Jack Anderson proved to be a mere consolation as we booked our spot in the final.
In the league, we are currently level on points with Rangers with a game in hand over our title contenders from Glasgow - with Hibs able to take top spot by avoiding defeat against St Mirren on Tuesday evening.
THE VISITORS
St Mirren earned their place in the League Cup Final with a professional 2-0 victory over Hearts in the semi-final last Tuesday.
Lewis Hodgkiss opened the scoring at K-Park with a thumping half-volley. The Buddies excellently played their way out of trouble from the back before going direct to blindside the stunned visitors.
A looping Theo McCormick header would soon double their advantage, and seal the Paisley side's place in the final against the wee Hibees.
Despite St Mirren U19s head coach Craig McLeish taking over the Men's First Team on an interim basis, the young Buddies have continued to keep up solid form in the league.
Our upcoming opponents are currently third in the CAS Elite U19 League on 19 points, four points behind Hibs heading into Tuesday's match.
