These Are The Biggest Shows Coming to HBO Max in May
HBO Max was home to one of April's most popular TV series, The Pitt. With the season finale just airing a couple of weeks ago, viewers may be wondering what else there is to watch on the streaming service. Don't fear, though, there's plenty of good stuff coming out in May.
Song of the Samurai (May 9)
Song of the Samurai is a Japanese drama series that is being adapted from the manga Chiruran: Shinsengumi Requiem. Unlike a lot of Japanese-centered TV series, Song of the Samurai is actually produced in Japan and should bring a more authentic portrayal of the Edo period compared to American media. The shows will focus on the last of the samurai in Kyoto during the aforementioned time period in the country's history. The manga it's based on has 36 volumes as of this writing.
U.S. Against the World: Four Years With the Men's National Soccer Team (May 12)
Sports documentaries can be some of the most engrossing series to get lost in, and soccer fans will absolutely love this one. U.S. Against the World: Four Years With the Men's National Soccer Team will show behind-the-scenes action, interviews, and more with the players who are preparing for the World Cup that is set to take place later this summer. The documentary will be a five-parter and will surely get people excited for the upcoming soccer season.
On the Roam Season 2 (May 14)
Jason Momoa is still one of the biggest actors on the planet, but he's been able to take on more creative sidequests as his career has gone on. On the Roam is his travel series in which he rides around the country on his motorcycle and meets some of the most interesting people he can find. Momoa tries to learn about their culture, what motivates them, and how they view the world.
This is the type of series that you might have loved growing up, when your parents would put the Discovery Channel or TLC on in the background after school. It also might remind others of Ride With Norman Reedus, although that reality series was solely honed in on biker culture.
