Game 4 Liveblog: Cole Caufield on the power play gives Canadiens 2-0 lead on Lightning
The Montreal Canadiens can take a stranglehold of their series against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 4 on Sunday at the Bell Centre.
Puck drop at 7 p.m. (CBC, Sportsnet, TVA Sports, TSN Radio 690, 98.5 FM)
The Canadiens lead the best-of-seven, first-round series 2-1.
Here are the keys to tonight’s game:
- Coach Martin St. Louis isn’t losing sleep over his lineup decisions. In fact, he falls asleep watching Seinfeld reruns.
- He’s also not worried about the first line of Cole Caufield–Nick Suzuki–Juraj Slafkovsky, who have yet to produce a goal at even-strength in this series.
- Heading down to the Bell Centre viewing party? The fences have been removed for tonight.
- The unlikely hero of Game 3 was forward Kirby Dach. Will his line with Alexandre Texier and Zachary Bolduc step up again?
- Injured defenceman Noah Dobson has resumed skating, but will not play tonight.

Second Period: Habs break deadlock
Then on the power play, Nick Suzuki found Cole Caufield alone in front for the tap-in. 2-0 Canadiens
The game was scoreless until about the midway point of the second period. Kaiden Guhle hit Zachary Bolduc on the stretch pass and he somehow slid the puck under Andrei Vasilevskiy. 1-0 Canadiens
After getting a boarding penalty for Ryan McDonagh, forward Josh Anderson took the worst of the play, falling awkwardly. He went to the dressing room, but did return.
First Period: Dobes shines
Jakub Dobes was down but not out during this sequence where the Bolts couldn’t score in the open net. He made six saves in the first, but had to be acrobatic on a few of them.
Pregame: Fans out in droves
Hall of Famer Serge Savard brought out the torch for the Habs tonight.
