'Alien: Isolation 2' Seemingly Teased on 'Alien' Day
It's been over a decade since developer Creative Assembly and publisher Sega dove back into the Alien franchise with a survival horror game focused on the iconic Ellen Ripley's daughter, Amanda, and ever since its acclaim, fans have begged for a sequel. It turns out, a second game may be on the horizon.
In a post to X by the official Alien Isolation account, a 25-second teaser video was posted. While the video does not directly announce anything, the video does drop some hints that this pending game announcement is indeed Alien: Isolation 2. The video uses the iconic game and film red and green contrasting lights, seems to be set on a different planet, and features the biggest tease at the very end--the emergency call box. The emergency boxes were used as save points in the original Alien: Isolation.
After the initial release of Alien: Isolation in 2014, which operated as a direct sequel to Alien and takes place before Ripley discovers how long she has been in cryosleep in Aliens, a sequel to the beloved game seemed out of the question, as multiple reports seemingly indicated the game was not a financial success.
However, on October 7, 2024, on the 10th anniversary of the release of the game, Creative Assembly confirmed a sequel was in development.
Upon release, critics were a bit divided on the game's quality, with many praising the AI of the stalker Xenomorph creature, the faithfulness to the films' art direction, the sound design, and the intense horror atmosphere. Others were divided on the game's narrative, backtracking, and pacing. On Metacritic, the game is sitting at a 79 metascore.
Since its release, Alien: Isolation has gained a cult following and is widely regarded by fans as one of the best survival horror games.
Alien: Isolation 2 is currently in development with no announced release date.
