Krysten Ritter Wants to ‘Show the Fierceness’ of Motherhood Instead of Stereotypical Portrayals
Krysten Ritter is not only a proud mom in real life, but she’s making sure one of her most iconic characters is a fierce mom like her. In a recent interview with People, Ritter discussed reprising her role as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again, but this time as a mom (just like she is in real life).
“I think being a mom and having that extra layer is so exciting, because you’re going to be bigger and badder than ever,” Ritter said to the outlet. “And [there’s] that mama bear energy, and that fierceness … or that thing in you that this awakens when you have your own child. [So,] I was really excited to layer that in for her.”
The Vamps star added, “I have such big opinions about being a mom and what it means, and a lot of times, moms or motherhood are portrayed very stereotypically in these kinds of settings. I wanted to show the fierceness and what a healing opportunity it is to become a mother and how you can really become a whole version of yourself.”

For those who don’t know, Ritter and musician Adam Granduciel dated from 2014 to 2021, and in July 2019, they welcomed a son named Bruce.
In a recent interview with HollywoodLife, Ritter talked about motherhood, saying, “I had no idea that I would get to be a kid again myself. Getting to see the world through his eyes and find joy in playing with toys and things like dancing to ‘Baby Shark,’ getting dressed up for Halloween is the BEST!”
She added, “I am so grateful for this gift.”
