A Highly Anticipated Multi-Platform Adventure Game Is Close to Getting a Release Date
Sometimes, when games keep getting talked about with no release date, it discourages fans to the point that they think the game doesn't even exist anymore. We all know how we felt about Hollow Knight Silksong taking ages to become a reality. But when it did? One of the best games of 2025.
Now, Mina the Hollower looks to become the next highly anticipated indie game release that will live up to all the hype and make the long wait worth the trouble. Yacht Club Games announced that the retro, 8-bit adventure has gone gold, which means the development is over and release to the public is imminent.

When the trailer for the gameplay was released earlier this year, the company claimed that the game would come out in spring 2026. We're now right in the middle of the release window! It's looking like everything went according to plan since that announcement.
Yacht Club Games is the developer known for making the Shovel Knight series. Shovel Knight was an homage to all of the wonderful action/adventure/platforming classics of the 1980s on the NES. Now, Mina the Hollower looks to be more of a Legend of Zelda-type game in the vein of the GBA or even Game Boy Color titles fans loved during the same decade.
Gamers will play as the titular mouse, Mina, as she explores an island that has gone without electrical power. Mina will try to restart the generators that give the island energy, and lots of chaos ensues.
The game will fit right in on Switch and Switch 2, which have always been the ideal consoles for the best indie games on the market. Other gamers who don't own Nintendo's consoles can still enjoy this one, though. It will also come out on Windows, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles.
Mina the Hollower has been in development since 2022, when its Kickstarter campaign began. All things considered, four years in development for an indie game isn't all that bad. When a company has a reputation for making great games, though, everyone gets impatient to get their hands on the final product. That time looks to finally be here!
