Homophobic abuse (take 3)
Was the first game that I've been able to bring my partner to in person today. Nice day for it, decent performance and result. He was happy enough.
Had a dad and lad (13ish maybe) sitting a couple of rows in front of us in the GML who spent most of the game shouting back and forth with a gobby Bristol City fan. No big deal really, except in the second half they got into launching homophobic slurs and bending over and rubbing their arses at the man in question.
Eventually I lost it with them after the kid shouted something about the guy being a dirty little queer something or other.
They gave me a load of abuse back - think the dad said something about him being just a kid and me being a poof or something - but they shut up. Dad hovered around on the way out as if to intimidate us, but soon did one when we didn't turn around.
This keeps happening, and it's not up for debate when people are openly shouting slurs, regardless of what defenders on here want to say. Ruined a good portion of the second half for me.
We need to be better.
