Jake Hyde Retires
Woking Football Club can today confirm that Jake Hyde has officially brought an end to his outstanding 20-year professional playing career.
Across two decades in the game, Hyde made 442 appearances and scored 141 goals, establishing himself as one of the most reliable and respected forwards in the non-league and Football League pyramid. His career was marked by consistency, leadership, and a proven ability to deliver in crucial moments, contributing to four promotions along the way.
Hyde represented a number of clubs throughout his journey, including Barnet, Dundee, York City, Stevenage, Woking, FC Halifax Town, Wrexham, Southend United, and Yeovil Town. Among these spells, his time at Woking stands out particularly, where he made 73 appearances and scored 31 goals, becoming a key figure for the club.
Supporters will fondly remember several standout moments from Hyde’s career, notably his goal against Swindon Town in the FA Cup Second Round, as well as his dramatic injury-time winner against Wealdstone in the National League South Playoff Semi-Final, an effort that cemented his reputation for delivering when it mattered most.
Following his return to the club in 2025, Hyde transitioned into a new role off the pitch, taking charge of the Strength and Conditioning programme. He also stepped into a leadership position as joint interim manager, where his impact was quickly recognised with a Manager of the Month nomination.
Jake Hyde leaves the game with the respect and admiration of teammates, staff, and supporters alike. His professionalism, dedication, and passion for football have made a lasting impression across every club he has represented.
Everyone at the club would like to place on record their sincere thanks for Jake’s incredible contribution to the game.
