Man Utd planning swoop for £26m Juventus star
Manchester United are likely to reinforce their defence during the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have had plenty of injuries this season, and they have been without Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt for prolonged spells.
Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro have likewise been on the sidelines, and the hierarchy may want another proper solution in the central defensive department next term.
The club may likewise seek to add a strong competitor to Diogo Dalot at right-back, given Noussair Mazraoui has been far from his best during the current season.
Juventus star Pierre Kalulu would be an ideal fit for both positions, and Tuttomercatoweb claim that United have their sights on signing him for the next campaign.
The Italian outlet claims that United will be closely monitoring the Frenchman’s performance during Sunday’s Serie A encounter against AC Milan at the San Siro.
The Red Devils could sign Kalulu
Juventus are currently on course for Champions League qualification. They are fourth in Serie A with a five-point lead over Como and Roma with five matches left.
Even if they do qualify, the Bianconeri may need to balance their books for future signings, and Kalulu could be a player who could head for the exit door this summer.
United previously watched the Frenchman in action against Inter Milan in February this year, but it was a forgettable outing for him as he was sent off after just 42 minutes.
Despite this, the Red Devils appear keen on pursuing his signature, given the former Milan ace can comfortably slot as a central defender or on the right side of the backline.
He has had a fine campaign thus far. Kalulu has a pass completion rate of 89 percent. He has won two tackles alongside two clearances and four recoveries per appearance, as per Sofascore.
The Frenchman has also been an attacking influence with nine goal contributions (two goals and seven assists).
Juventus signed the 25-year-old for £20 million after a loan stint from Milan. Calciomercato have previously claimed that he could be sold for £30m, which would secure a capital gain for the Bianconeri.
If the Bianconeri were to miss out on Champions League football, a £30m deal could be on the cards. Otherwise, the price tag could be higher in the region of £40m, in our view.
United are prepared to have a second look at the versatile defender. If he impresses against the Rossoneri, it could boost his prospects of securing a move to Old Trafford.
