Adams: Our Fight Is Clear To See
Hibs Women forward Eilidh Adams struck from the spot to ensure the Hibees extended their unbeaten league streak to nine matches.
A first victory of the campaign over Celtic sees us leapfrog the Glasgow club into fourth in the ScottishPower Women's Premier League standings ahead of the final four games of the season.
The team are continually seeking improvements as they look upwards in the league and, despite sealing a vital three points on Friday evening, Adams is keen for the girls to 'work on' their final third output.
"I think it was probably, especially the second half, quite an exciting game for the neutrals or even both sets of fans," she told Hibs TV.
"I think first half we did OK, I don't think we were too pleased. But I think we came out in the second half and we probably dominated a lot of that game.
"We created maybe not enough clear-cut chances, I think that's something we were probably a bit disappointed with, the final third. That's something we'll try and work on and take into the next game.
"But, I think the three points was the main thing and we've done that, and we're happy."
Adams broke the deadlock after 53 minutes when she converted from 12 yards after Rosie Livingstone was felled in the penalty area.
Her 16th goal of the campaign - and 86th overall in Hibs colours - was a convincing finish from the spot, though Adams was quick to praise our team's defensive efforts rather than her own crucial strike.
"McGov said I can take this one and I was wanting to take it. It felt pretty good going up and, yeah, it went in the back of the net.
"I think, obviously, getting that goal kind of settles the nerves a wee bit. I think the game was quite transitional at points and I think a lot of us were saying that exhausted at the end of the game.
"But I think you can see we're playing some really good football and there's that belief. And on the other side of it, there's a lot of fight from the girls.
"I think the defensive side of it, I think you could see everyone putting their bodies on the line, which is what you need. So, everyone is really happy."
With an impressive victory claimed, Adams has called for her team to keep pushing during the run-in to finish as high as possible in the league table.
"You see the league is so competitive and we're right on the heels now. We're just focusing on ourselves and taking each game as it comes. And I think that's what we've been doing.
"We've had a pretty good run since we've had the post-split fixtures. So for us, it's just continuing that, but taking the things that we want to work on and taking that into the next game. Four big games left."
