Immanuel Quickley ruled out for remainder of first round
The Toronto Raptors are once again going to be missing their starting point guard in some crucial games.
The team has announced that Immanuel Quickley has been ruled out for the remainder of their first-round playoff series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The 26-year-old has yet to play in the playoffs after suffering a hamstring injury against the Brooklyn Nets on April 12. He played in only 17 minutes of the game before leaving the game in what was his third game back after dealing with plantar fasciitis in his right foot for eight games.
According to the Raptors, Quickley re-injured the hamstring while rehabilitating it for a return to the court.
The Raptors’ starting Point Guard has played in 70 games this season, his most since the 2022-2023 season when he was a member of the New York Knicks. In those games this season, he has averaged 16.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, a career-high 5.9 assists, and 1.3 steals across 31.9 minutes while shooting 37.4 per cent from beyond the arc, and 44.3 per cent from the field. The team also noted that Quickley has scored 20 or more points in 20 games and recorded eight double-doubles.
In Quickley’s absence, the Raptors have primarily started pass-first guard Jamal Shead, but decided to put Ja’Kobe Walter in the starting role ahead of the team’s game three win. I imagine that Walter will also start game four, but we will find out once the starting lineups are released.
Game four tips off at 1 PM ET/ 10 AM PT on Sunday.
