All Three 'Meet The Parents' Movies Are Coming To Netflix Next Month
On May 1, 2026, all three movies in Ben Stiller's popular Meet The Parents franchise will land on Netflix in the United States.
Directed by Jay Roach, 2000's Meet The Parents stars Stiller and Robert de Niro as a nervous boyfriend and his partner's imposing father, who struggle to get along when Stiller's protagonist wants to ask for his partner's hand in marriage.
The film was an immediate classic, relying heavily on the comedic contrast between Stiller's slapstick comedy and De Niro's dry sense of humor. It was also a massive box office success, pulling in $330 million worldwide against a reported budget of $55 million (via Box Office Mojo).
Critics rallied around Meet The Parents as one of the funniest films in recent memory, with a brilliant screenplay that takes advantage of the chemistry between these two iconic actors. The film currently sits at 85% on Rotten Tomatoes. Incidentally, it's one of the few comedies whose critics' score is higher than its audience score.
Naturally, this critical and commercial success didn't go unnoticed, and Meet The Parents spawned two polarizing sequels over the next decade. Meet The Fockers came four years later, introducing Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand as the parents of Stiller's protaognist, Greg Focker.
The sequel was another massive success, earning $522 million against a slightly higher budget of $80 million. It was the seventh-highest grossing film of the year, and confirmed that this franchise could survive beyond the original movie.
While reviews for Meet The Fockers were definitely mixed, the film still has a large following who appreciate its lighthearted sense of humor and charming romantic subplot. It may lack the sharp writing of the first, but it still succeeds thanks to its fun performances and carefree storytelling.
Little Fockers arrived in 2010, and finally proved that rehashing the same story three times over isn't a sustainable storytelling model. The film was panned by critics and received harsh reviews upon its release, even though it managed to replicate the box office success of its predecessors.
For those who haven't seen any of these classic comedies, now is the perfect time. Not only are they all arriving on Netflix on May 1, but the fourth installment in the franchise, Focker-in-Law, is coming out later this year.
For those who can't wait to catch up, the entire series is currently available on Paramount Plus or Amazon Prime Video with a valid subscription. They will all disappear from those platforms when they move to Netflix in May.
