Re: Jay Stansfield concern and Kanya Fujimoto reminder after Birmingham City fightback
TarquinRasputinIf we're saying that he was a better player three seasons ago when we were shit, and has got progressively worse, it doesn't say much about the way he has been coached or played does it.
Mind you, looking a worse player than when they were signed isn't exclusive to Stansfield, is it...
I don't think he's a worse player, I just don't think he's as good as we thought he'd be at this point.
His stats (according to the Birmingham Mail) say he's the 10th most effective player in the division
I don’t think anyone here has said they don’t like him.
I think he is a good player. He’s just struggled to adapt to Davies ball. Yes he has a good return on goals and assists but he went on a run of 1 goal in 27 and 12 games without an assist or goal until Wednesday night.
He’s also 23 now and turning 24 in Novemver so it’s a crucial period of his career to grow.
My own view is that since we signed him permanently we’ve not played to his strengths and not allowed him to hold down one position with a set role. This has stunted his growth.
