Enid, Oklahoma, Tornado Damage: Videos Show Monster Twister Approach Vance Air Force Base
A massive twister struck Enid, Oklahoma, on the evening of April 23, and videos showed the monster tornado headed toward Vance Air Force base.
Another video emerged showing the massive tornado from an airplane. Fox25 reported that the tornado was confirmed.
According to MyNBC5, the "massive tornado" flattened homes and "caused extensive damage" throughout Oklahoma on the evening of April 23. Heidi Hatch, a reporter with KUTV, wrote, "MASSIVE TORNADO: A tornado moving through Enid, Oklahoma flattened homes and caused extensive damage tonight. Reports of injuries, homes leveled and a possible hit on Vance Air Force Base. Search and Rescue crews are just now getting out to survey damage and look for victims."

The tornado was captured from other vantage points as well. "The American Red Cross is responding to Enid to provide disaster assistance for those impacted," Fox 25 reported.
"Earlier this evening, a tornado impacted Vance Air Force Base. We are currently conducting accountability procedures to ensure all personnel are safe and accounted for. Base leadership is assessing the installation to determine the extent of damage and to ensure the safety of facilities and infrastructure," Vance Air Force Base wrote on Facebook.
"We are coordinating closely with local officials and emergency responders. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
"Structures were hit as a large tornado moved near Vance Air Force Base in Garfield County. Other homes and buildings in the area are also being impacted. Debris covered the area as the tornado ravaged it," reported MyNBC5.
The television station reported that people were "trapped in houses" and possibly cars, and the full damage estimate was not clear. According to the station, "emergency crews are going door-to-door in the hardest hit areas."

The video of the tornado from the airplane was just as striking. "Flying past the #storms that just hit #Enid Oklahoma. Nuts," the original poster, Ben Levine, wrote.
"Please join me in praying for the Enid community, which has been severely impacted by tonight’s tornado. I have spoken with Enid’s local leaders and will continue working with them as they assess the damage and identify needs," Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt wrote on X.
"My prayers are with everyone on Vance Air Force Base and the surrounding neighborhood, and I am asking God to bring healing and comfort in the days ahead. As storms continue to move across Oklahoma tonight, I urge everyone to stay weather aware, follow local warnings, and take shelter immediately when directed."
An X user wrote, "Stay safe Oklahoma, devastating scenes from that massive tornado in Enid." According to the Enid News, the city was mobilizing heavy equipment to begin clearing debris from the structural damage. "The storm struck around 8:15 p.m., and the major north/south highway was closed as of 9 p.m.," the Enid News wrote.
