Tottenham Hotspur set Pape Sarr price tag as Fenerbahce make early contact with agents
Fenerbahce have made contact with the representatives of Tottenham midfielder Pape Sarr to begin work on a potential summer transfer.
Spurs Web has relayed several reports over recent months suggesting that clubs around Europe are circling over many of Tottenham’s players as the club’s Premier League status hangs in the balance.
Some sources have suggested that Spurs are expected to cash in on many of their senior stars this summer as they are set to undertake a rebuild ahead of Roberto De Zerbi’s first season in charge.
It has emerged over recent days that the Lilywhites are also ready to cash in on a midfielder who has played 34 times across all competitions this term.
Fenerbahce have held talks with representatives of Tottenham’s Pape Sarr
It was reported by CaughtOffside last week that Spurs are privately preparing for Pape Sarr’s sale this summer as some of the biggest clubs around Europe are circling over the 23-year-old.
It has now been revealed by Fotomac that Fenerbahce have made advances to sign the Spurs midfielder.
The report claims that Fenerbahce are eyeing a rebuild of their midfield, with Fred and Ismail Yuksek expected to leave, and they have identified Sarr as ‘one of their priorities’ to fill the gap left by the pair’s departure.
It is claimed that the Turkish club sees the 23-year-old as a ‘high-upside signing’ who fits the club’s long-term profile. In fact, it is asserted that initial negotiations have already taken place between the Super Lig club and the 23-year-old’s intermediaries regarding a summer move.
Fenerbahce hoping Spurs’ relegation makes Sarr pursuit easier
Fotomac say that Tottenham’s relegation from the Premier League is expected to be a ‘crucial factor’ in deciding Sarr’s future, with Fenerbahce keeping a close eye on the battle for survival in the English top-flight.
The Istanbul giants believe that Spurs going down to the Championship could significantly lower the barriers to a deal for the Senegal international.
While Spurs value Sarr at €32m (£27.8m), Fenerbahce hope that the fee can be reduced significantly as their officials prepare to begin formal negotiations over the coming days.
