Livingstone On POTM Win & Celtic Clash
Rosie Livingstone is excited to return to league action after captaining Scotland U23s over the international break and picking up the SPWPL Player of the Month!
She led the Scots during their 0-0 draw with Denmark before returning to HTC to collect her first-ever Player of the Month award following her excellent performances across March.
Livingstone and the Hibees are seeking to extend their eight-game unbeaten league run with a positive result against Celtic, with a win drawing the girls level with the Glasgow outfit in the league table.
The forward, reflecting on a special week, told Hibs TV she is hoping the experience of leading her national side and picking up a first-time accolade will benefit her ahead of the run-in.
“It’s an honour obviously to get some sort of recognition from the league. It was a good month for me, picking up a good few assists and a vital goal in the derby.
“It was definitely a good month for me and hopefully I can just lead that into the rest of the season.
“(Captaining Scotland) that I've never really done before,” Livingstone added.
“It was definitely a new experience for me, but something that I hopefully can say that I took in my stride.
“It was an honour and it was just something that I can add to my sort of profile of things that I've done and achieved, and something to sort of push and develop more in that side of the game, the game knowledge and I always want to be that character that sort of brings a group together.”
Looking ahead to Friday night’s clash under the lights at Meadowbank, Livingstone hopes the allure of an evening game will bring even more Hibees to Meadowbank to back the team in a crucial match.
“It's nice to have everyone back in the group now. We've had a few sessions now to get back together, so it's been good.
“I think we were on sort of a good run just before the international break — apart from that result against Partick that we were maybe a bit disappointed by — but I think we can almost just use that as a bit of a drive too.
“We are three points away from Celtic, so a positive result this weekend can really put us in a good position and I think just for the rest of the league, it's just to pick up as many points as we can and really show what this group is sort of about.
“A night fixture, I always enjoy. It's something different compared to Sunday. So yeah, hopefully it just attracts a few more fans than normal.
“It'll be good to see as many fans as we can at that fixture and hopefully we can put out a good result for them as well.”
