Gunther Werks Porsche 911 Speedster Is More Than Just A Marvel Nod
Gunther Werks builds insane, bespoke Porsche-inspired supercars. Their stable of 911-inspired cars is often more extreme and bespoke than anything Porsche could commit to. Project Endgame is the latest. It's also the beginning and the end, not unlike its namesake. Project Endgame will be the last Gunther Werks Speedster ever built and simultaneously, the start of GWX. It's the brand's "bespoke coachbuilding program" intended to offer their extremely wealthy clientele all the customization and craftsmanship Gunther Werks can bring to bear.

“Project Endgame is unlike any Speedster we’ve built before, with every element precision-engineered and designed in absolute collaboration with the client,” said Peter Nam, CEO and founder of Gunther Werks. “Even the most granular details were taken into account and refined. In this case, performance was paramount. At the client's behest, Endgame will be the only Speedster powered by an air-cooled turbocharged engine, undoubtedly making it our fastest Speedster to date.”

The engine is a masterpiece, a Rothsport Racing-built 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six making an absurd 840 horsepower and 660 ft-lbs. of torque. It powers the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission with a very unique gearshift lever, covered in 24-karat gold with six ensconced stones, likely taken from some angry purple tyrant. Gold plating continues throughout the car, including in the engine bay on the throttle bodies. The Speedster weighs in at just over 2,600 pounds, thanks largely to extensive use of carbon fiber. The bodywork is entirely carbon, borrowed largely from the Gunther Werks Turbo, but with entirely new rear quarter panels to accommodate the hulking engine. All of it is finished in a shade of True Candy Red that took three weeks to finish, plus more gold accents.

Inside, the interior contains yet more carbon, gold, and Alcantara. Between the rear seats sits a special nod to the car's inspiration, though this one is hopefully not keeping any shrapnel from entering the Speedster's heart. If you want to see this incredible piece of engineering in person, Gunther Werks will display the car at Luftgekühlt's Porsche-fest, Air|Water, in Costa Mesa, California, on April 25, 2026.
