FINCA Malawi Registers 226% Profit Growth
FINCA Malawi has reported strong financial performance for 2025, registering a profit of K4.1 billion, representing a 226 percent increase from K1.2 billion recorded in the 2024 financial year.
Speaking on Thursday during a media briefing at the company’s headquarters in Blantyre, Chief Executive Officer Charles Anderson Bello said the growth reflects disciplined execution and growing customer trust.
Bello said the performance has been driven by FINCA Malawi’s commitment to empowering entrepreneurs and promoting women’s economic participation through affordable credit to small businesses in both rural and urban areas.
He added that digital transformation has also contributed to the growth, with expanded services such as mobile and agency banking, interbank transfers, bill payments and wallet transactions enabling customers to access services more easily.
Bello said the institution plans to scale up digital platforms, deepen financial inclusion in underserved communities and continue innovating to meet evolving customer needs.
He further said FINCA’s total assets have increased to K48 billion, up by 42 percent, while interest income rose to K24.1 billion, loan book to K39.3 billion and deposits to K17.8 billion.
Despite challenges such as forex shortages, Bello said the institution has reduced interest rates and introduced flexible, customer-focused loan products to support small-scale businesses.
FINCA Malawi has also introduced a collateral-free loan of up to 5,000 US dollars (about K8.7 million), aimed at improving access to finance and easing business operations for customers.
