Morning Briefing: The Mets Have Won a Baseball Game
Good morning, Mets fans!
Losing streak no more! The Mets have finally snapped their two-week-long losing streak, the franchise’s longest in over two decades, and are back in the win column after 12 consecutive losses. A Mark Vientos RBI bloop single in the bottom of the eighth inning broke up a 2-2 tie and Luke Weaver shut it down in the ninth to give the Mets a 3-2 win.
New York will now look to capitalize and take the series against Minnesota on Thursday. With their win on Wednesday night, the Mets hand off title of the longest losing streak in the majors to the Phillies, who have lost eight in a row. They both share the worst record in MLB.
The rubber game is set for 7:10 p.m. ET Thursday with Christian Scott making his return to the majors against Joe Ryan (2-2, 3.29 ERA).
