World Cup winner finally breaks silence on Bruno Fernandes debate with honest verdict
Former Manchester United star Paul Pogba has lavished praise on club captain Bruno Fernandes.
Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, Pogba opened up on a range of topics and did not hold back.
The Frenchman laughed off suggestions that Fernandes is somehow a problem at Old Trafford.
The 33-year-old said: “Football lovers will always respect Bruno Fernandes.
“If you like his style, it’s a different thing. If you like his style, the way he plays or not, this is a different opinion.
“But football players, they will understand that this guy is a top player.”
Mutual respect between Pogba and Fernandes
It remains unbelievable that United never truly mounted a serious title challenge with talents such as Pogba, Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, Raphael Varane, David de Gea and Jadon Sancho in the same squad.
Fernandes has been the best signing for the club over the last decade.
When a player of his quality pulls the strings, all you can do is sit back and admire.
Creative midfielders are often the heartbeat of every great side.
The Premier League has seen countless iconic creators over the years who commanded universal respect despite fierce rivalries.
Cesc Fabregas, Mesut Ozil, David Beckham, Paul Scholes, David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne are all part of that legendary list.
Fernandes deserves to be on that list when discussing the greatest attacking midfielders in Premier League history.
Pogba himself was a magician at his peak and virtually unstoppable on his day.
The World Cup winner could attack, defend, glide past players, make crunching tackles and leave fans spellbound with his dribbling skills and nutmegs.
Fernandes offers something different.
Few players in world football can spot and execute a decisive final pass quite like him.
He is always available, constantly demanding the ball and dictating the tempo from almost any area of the pitch.
With 18 assists to his name, he is arguably the standout player of the campaign.
If anyone disagrees, they may simply be watching a different sport.
