Rat Running Wild At Wrigley Field Freaks Out Philadelphia Phillies
As soon as you saw that rat running around, Chicago Cubs fans knew the internet was going to have a field day making fun of Wrigley Field. That Ozzie Guillen quote about rats being as big as pigs immediately popped into my head, and well, this was a brutal look as a rat was running wild at Wrigley Field Tuesday night. There was a hilarious moment when the rat scampered past the visitor’s dugout and a group of Philadelphia Phillies players were freaked out.
Fans at home first noticed the rat in the top of the eighth inning, when it snuck next to the advertisement board behind home plate. Marquee Sports Network didn’t want to highlight a rat running on the field, but they had to show a replay of Riley Martin’s strike three pitch to Trea Turner. You could also see it live.
WGN TV’s Marcus Leshoch got the on-field view of the rat jumping into one of the equipment bags near the visiting dugout before it made its way down by the tarp after scaring the Phillies in the dugout.
The Phillies TV broadcast didn’t have much to enjoy as Philadelphia lost its seventh straight game, but the announcers at least had a laugh about the Wrigley rat.
There’s only one way Cubs fans should react to this. Rally rat! Seven wins in a row. Offense is rolling. Wrigley Field loves all its animals.

Just something about Chicago and rats inside baseball stadiums. They love hanging out at Rate Field, too.
