Discover James Bond's Bluffing Skills in the New '007 First Light' Trailer
We all know that James Bond has a licence to kill, but that doesn't mean that every single situation he's in requires a bunch of shooting. And now, Bond's greatest secret weapon—bluffing—will be on full display in the new video game 007 First Light. If you remember shooting your way through a bunch of enemies in the N64 game GoldenEye, the game mechanics of First Light are going for something a bit more realistic.
A new trailer for 007 First Light, called "Rules of Spycraft," breaks down tips for hypothetical MI6 agents. But the news of this trailer is that it fully demonstrates the gameplay mechanics of how things will go down throughout various levels of First Light. And the very first feature that is revealed is the ability for players to "bluff" their way into various situations.
Bluffing is a classic Bond trick. In You Only Live Twice, Bond tried to pass himself off as an astronaut to get by Blofeld's security forces. In Diamonds Are Forever, Bond pretended to be inspecting radiation shields in a lab in order to infiltrate the facility. Even Daniel Craig's Bond pulled some brazen bluffs, including being a school teacher on vacation in Quantum of Solace.
Relative to the gameplay of previous James Bond games, this means that First Light will give players the ability to use Bond's charm, wit, and bluffing skills, perhaps just as much as his fighting or driving skills.
No word yet if there's also a level in which the player will see how good they are at Texas hold 'em, but at this point, it seems anything is on the table.
