Cyprus banks to remain closed on labour day
The Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) on Wednesday announced that all banks will remain closed on May 1, 2026 in observance of Labour Day.
The announcement confirmed that the closure applies to the entire Cyprus banking system, with no in-branch banking operations available on the day.
Since May 1 falls on a Friday, the shutdown effectively creates a three-day bank holiday weekend, potentially causing some transactions and payroll processing to be brought forward or delayed until the following Monday.
