Police announce drone ban and Navtex during EU summit
Police on Wednesday announced heightened security measures ahead of the informal meeting of EU heads of state, taking place on April 23 and 24, 2026, under Cyprus’ presidency of the Council of the European Union.
For security reasons, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, in coordination with police, has issued a Navtex (NW 120/26), establishing a no-navigation zone in waters surrounding Ayia Napa marina from 4pm to 11pm on April 23.
In addition, under a decree by the transport minister, the use of drones will be strictly prohibited across Cyprus for the entire two-day period.
The measures will include traffic arrangements and restrictions across the districts of Nicosia, Larnaca and Famagusta.
