Preview: Hearts (H)
Hibernian return to William Hill Premiership action on Sunday tea-time when we take on Hearts in an important Edinburgh Derby at Easter Road Stadium – read the full match preview below!
Fixtures
- Hibernian Vs. Heart of Midlothian - Sun, Apr 26 2026, 16:30
THE LOWDOWN
Head Coach David Gray’s side head into our opening post-split fixture off the back of a 2-0 defeat at Aberdeen.
After Grant Hanley was sent off after colliding with Toyosi Olusanya after 16 minutes, Kevin Nisbet stepped up to bury the resulting spot-kick, before adding his second late on to put the result beyond doubt.
Defeat at Pittodrie put an end to our six-match unbeaten run and left us on 51 points from 33 matches, keeping us fifth in the Premiership table.
THE VISITORS
Hearts remain at the top of the Premiership table by a solitary point, having achieved 70 points from 33 matches.
Derek McInnes’ side came from behind to beat Motherwell 3-1 at Tynecastle in their final fixture ahead of the split, though have lost ground on Rangers and Celtic at the summit, with their lead of three points cut to just one after a draw at Livingston, the top-flight’s bottom side, earlier this month.
The last time we met with the Jambos at Easter Road, back in December 2025, the Hibees raced into a three-goal lead inside 48 minutes with an opener from Jamie McGrath, then efforts from Josh Campbell and Kieron Bowie, eventually winning 3-2 after late strikes by Lawrence Shankland and Cammy Devlin.
TEAM NEWS
Josh Mulligan, Manashe Garananga and Rudi Molotnikov were all unavailable for our last match against Aberdeen.
Head Coach David Gray will provide a squad update to the media ahead of the Edinburgh Derby on Thursday afternoon at HTC.
