Iran Says Ready For Talks If US Lifts Naval Blockade
Iran’s UN envoy says Tehran will resume talks if Washington ends its naval blockade, as both sides exchange accusations of ceasefire violations.
Amir Saeid Iravani said Iran is ready to resume negotiations with the United States if Washington lifts its naval blockade on Iranian ports.
Speaking to media, he said any new round of talks, expected to be held in Islamabad—depends on the US halting what Tehran calls violations of the current ceasefire.
Iravani said Iran has not initiated military action and remains open to a political solution, but warned it is prepared for “any scenario” if tensions escalate.
The United States has not directly responded to his remarks, but officials have previously said maritime measures are aimed at enforcing pressure on Iran and ensuring regional security.
Tehran has repeatedly accused Washington of breaching the ceasefire through continued naval operations, while US officials have countered that Iran’s regional activities and threats risk undermining stability.
The conditional offer to resume talks underscores ongoing mistrust, with both sides maintaining military readiness even as diplomatic channels remain open but fragile.
