WISTA Cyprus to recognise equality leaders at Brussels conference
WISTA Cyprus has launched the 2026 Diversity and Inclusion in Shipping Awards, with nominations now open for initiatives promoting equality and inclusion across the maritime sector.
In a statement, the association said the initiative recognises organisations, companies and individuals that have driven substantial progress in gender balance, diversity and inclusion across shipping.
More specifically, the awards honour practical action, innovative approaches and leadership aimed at creating fair, respectful and inclusive workplaces, both at sea and on land.
The awards are organised by WISTA Cyprus, with the support of WISTA International, the European Commission’s Women in Transport, the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union and leading maritime stakeholders.
They will be presented during the high-level conference ‘Equality and Inclusion in the Maritime Sector’, which will be organised and hosted by the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union in Brussels on May 12, 2026.
The 2026 awards will recognise excellence in three categories, namely Best Improvement in Diversity and Inclusion in the Maritime Workplace, Best Initiative for Respect and Well-being at Sea, and Best New Inclusion Initiative.
Nominations are open to organisations, companies, groups and individuals in the maritime sector whose work has contributed to promoting diversity and inclusion.
The nomination platform is now available online, while the deadline for submissions is April 30, 2026.
