Senior Minister of State Desmond Tan appointed Patron of the Singapore Golf Association

Singapore, April 22: The Singapore Golf Association (SGA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Desmond Tan, Senior Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office and Deputy Secretary General of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), as its Patron, marking a significant milestone in the SGA’s efforts to strengthen and grow the sport in Singapore.
As Patron, Senior Minister of State Desmond Tan will lend his support to the SGA’s mission of developing golf across all levels, from community participation to high-performance excellence. His appointment reflects a shared commitment to advancing the sport’s accessibility, inclusivity and long-term sustainability of golf’s ecosystem in Singapore.
Senior Minister of State Desmond Tan will also support the objectives of the SGA and provide guidance where appropriate as he champions the development of the sport. His appointment comes at a time of growing momentum for golf in Singapore, with increased participation, the successful staging of world-class events, and encouraging progress by Singaporean players on the international stage.
