Game 2 Liveblog: Josh Anderson gives Canadiens 2-1 lead over Lightning
The Montreal Canadiens already know they’ll be leaving Tampa for the Bell Centre with at least a series split, but they’ll be looking for more against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 2 on Tuesday at Benchmark International Arena.
The Canadiens lead the best-of-seven, first-round series 1-0.
Puck drop at 7 p.m. (CBC, Sportsnet, TVA Sports, TSN Radio 690, 98.5 FM).
Here’s what you need to know:
- The Lightning are opting for a little more muscle after losing Game 1 in overtime. Charle-Edouard D’Astous is out after taking a hit from Josh Anderson. The man who fought Anderson the last time both teams met in the regular season, Declan Carlile, will enter the lineup. Bruiser Scott Sabourin will join him after being a scratch on Sunday.
- As for Anderson, he’ll be looking to build on Sunday’s impressive performance. He scored a goal and nearly had another that was called back on a high-stick.
- Another player who will need to turn up the dial if the game gets physical is defenceman Kaiden Guhle.
- The Lightning have been without captain Victor Hedman, and according to coach Jon Cooper, he may not return at all this series.
- What does Juraj Slafkovsky have planned for an encore after scoring a hat trick in Game 1?

Third Period: One-goal game
JJ Moser nearly had the game-tying goal on his stick, but his shot rang off the post.
Second Period: Slaf fights
An unlikely Hab dropped the gloves: Juraj Slafkovsky fought Brandon Hagel.
With 1:24 left in the second period, Josh Anderson continued to run roughshod over the Bolts by scoring his second of the postseason. 2-1 Canadiens
First Period: 30 PIMs in first
Scott Sabourin was inserted into the lineup to bring toughness, and early on, he tried to get under Josh Anderson’s skin.
Tampa scored on their first shot at 11:20 of the first. Brandon Hagel scored his third of the postseason. 1-0 Lightning
And then all hell broke loose, with Jake Evans and Jake Guentzel among the players getting tied up after the whistle.
The skirmish left the Habs on the power play. They continued where they left off in Game 1, with Lane Hutson scoring the first playoff goal of his career. Tied 1-1
