Jaafar Jackson Addresses Michael Jackson Misconception, Says He Did Not Want to Be White
Jaafar Jackson is opening up about the biggest misconception about his late uncle, Michael Jackson.
The 29-year-old actor, who plays Michael in the upcoming biopic out on April 24, spoke out on the red carpet at the film’s LA premiere on Monday (April 20).

“What do you think the biggest misconception of your uncle is?” he was asked by Extra on the red carpet.
“The biggest misconception? That he… I would say that he wanted to be white. That’s a big misconception,” Jaafar said.
“And that this film gives you that understanding of what that is. You know, that vitiligo played a part in his life. And not a lot of people really understand what that is. And he was dealing with that from an early age.”
Per Cleveland Clinic, vitiligo “causes your skin to lose color or pigmentation. Smooth white or light areas called macules or patches appear on your skin. It generally starts on your hands, forearms, feet and face. Globally, about 1% of the population has vitiligo. Treatment isn’t necessary, but it’s available if you don’t like the changes to your skin tone.”
