Jamie Carragher predicts Tottenham’s next five results and total Premier League points tally

Jamie Carragher has delivered a blunt verdict on Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League survival hopes, with his latest prediction offering little encouragement as the season reaches its decisive stretch.

Several sides in the English top flight already know their fate and what they are fighting for, with five games left to play.

Arsenal and Manchester City are battling for the Premier League title, while several other sides, from fourth to 14th, are within reach of European qualification, whether that be the Champions League, Europa League or Conference League.

However, for Tottenham Hotspur, the fight is to avoid the drop as they sit in the bottom three with five games remaining.

Jamie Carragher doubts Tottenham’s Premier League survival chances

Spurs’ next game is against Wolverhampton Wanderers, whose relegation has been confirmed following the 0-0 draw between Crystal Palace and West Ham United.

A victory over Rob Edwards’ side will see Tottenham move up to 17th place should West Ham United fail to beat Everton this weekend.

It is a big moment for Roberto De Zerbi and his side, but Jamie Carragher does not see Spurs coming away with a victory.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher explained why he expects Tottenham to struggle despite facing a relegated side.

He said, “I just think that I have seen Wolves enough in the last few months where they have played at home against really good sides and got points. I know they have been relegated now – it was a really poor performance against Leeds United – and they are down.

“Does that have an effect on them? But you know, we are talking about the last time they won, what month was it? December. They have not won a Premier League game since December.

“It is unbelievable to think you are just going to go to an away game and win. I cannot see them losing the game. Listen, they could nick it, but I have seen other teams go there and find it difficult.”

Spurs relegation verdict as Jamie Carragher predicts Leeds United outcome

Tottenham still have to take on Leeds United before the season ends, and that clash affords them another opportunity to stay clear of relegation should they win.

However, Carragher believes that, once more, Spurs will fall short, failing to deal with the pressure of having to win such a big game. Introducing his view on that fixture, he suggested Tottenham will struggle to handle the occasion.

Carragher predictions:

• Tottenham draw away to Wolves
• Tottenham draw away to Villa
• Tottenham beat Leeds at home
• Spurs lose to Chelsea away
• Spurs beat Everton at home

He added, “Tottenham away, you think Leeds will go there and win. I just think it is almost a game where nothing else can happen except a win, you know what I mean. With two or three games to go, it almost feels to me like Tottenham have to win no matter what, by hook or by crook, so that is why I thought they might just edge that game.”

The former Liverpool defender was generous with his overall prediction in terms of points. However, he was even more positive with his Forest and West Ham predictions. Carragher believes Spurs will finish the season on 39 points, but Nottingham Forest will have 43 and West Ham will have 41.

If those predictions are correct, it would be Spurs joining Wolves and Burnley in the Championship next season.
