Cher Just Found Out She Has a 15-Year-Old Granddaughter

Her name is Ever. She’s a straight-A 15-year-old student.

Her mom is Kayti Edwards, the step-granddaughter of Julie Andrews. Kayti, a former model who now runs a horse rescue in Joshua Tree, kept Ever completely out of the spotlight her whole life so she could have a real, normal childhood. Kayti has 4 kids total.

In 2010, Kayti was briefly involved with Cher’s son Elijah Blue Allman, the lead singer and frontman of the rock band Deadsy. Kayti got pregnant and Elijah told her early on he didn’t want to be a parent. Kayti’s husband has been Ever’s dad from day one. Ever grew up thinking Elijah was just a family friend. She only learned the truth recently, at 15.

Kayti (49) explained why she never leaned on the Cher or Julie Andrews connection: “I know what it’s like to have a famous grandma and it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. I craved the ideal of grandma baking cookies in the kitchen with me, but it wasn’t like that. We had cooks and were raised by nannies. To talk to my grandma, I had to call her assistant. They are busy women in Hollywood. It’s not a normal life and I never wanted that for Ever.”

Cher first reached out last June after hearing family whispers. Elijah had mentioned a child to relatives after his 2021 overdose, but nobody knew for sure. When Kayti confirmed it, Cher was speechless. When she told her family, she reportedly said: “Oh my God, I’m finally a grandma.”

By September, Kayti and Ever were staying over in Malibu. Kayti says Cher was “very childlike” with Ever. They played in the pool. Cher let her try on things from her closet and showed her a pair of jeans she’d worn in concert. She asked about school and boys. Cher has sent Christmas and birthday gifts ever since: a Chrome Hearts hoodie, sweats, money.

Kayti isn’t pushing anything. “It has to come naturally.”

Elijah’s situation is severe. Cher filed again this week for a temporary conservatorship over his estate, claiming his life has “significantly deteriorated” since a prior request in 2023. According to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital, Cher stated Elijah has “no concept of money” and almost exclusively spends funds on “drugs, expensive hotels, and limousine transportation.” The filing describes a pattern. It states: “After he receives his trust distribution, he checks into a hotel, usually the Chateau Marmont, buys and does drugs until he runs out of money, ends up in the hospital, or overdoses.”

He’s currently in custody at a psychiatric hospital in New Hampshire on multiple criminal charges. In March he was charged with burglary, 2 counts of criminal mischief, and breach of bail from a residential break-in. Days before that, he was arrested at a New Hampshire private high school and charged with simple assault, criminal trespass, and criminal threatening. He’s been thrown out of 18 hotels for screaming obscenities and acting erratically. He caused over $50,000 in damages to the most recent Airbnb, all rented in Kayti’s name, landing her in a lawsuit with Airbnb.

Cher’s own filing describes Kayti as the person who “by all accounts, has kept him alive.” In the same documents, Cher acknowledged Elijah has caused Kayti “significant emotional and financial loss.” A total of 14 Airbnbs were damaged. His estranged wife, Marieangela King, was awarded $6,500 a month in retroactive spousal support and is now one of his major creditors.

Kayti hasn’t let Ever meet him yet. “He needs to get back to being the guy I once knew, and Cher agrees. We need to get him better.”
