Eminem Celebrates Major Anniversary Days After Welcoming Second Grandchild
You read that correctly. Eminem is a grandfather. Feel old yet?
The famed '00s rapper first became a grandfather in March 2025, when his daughter Hailie had a son, Elliot Marshall McClintock — who takes his middle name from the rapper's legal name, Marshall Mathers.
Now, he's got a granddaughter in addition to his grandson. His adopted daughter Alaina Scott — whose biological mother is Eminem's ex-wife Kim's twin sister — gave birth to a baby girl, Scottie Marie, on April 14.
Less than a week later, "The Real Slim Shady" rapper celebrated a major life anniversary.
Eminem Celebrates 18 Years Sober
On April 20, Eminem shared a photo to Instagram of himself holding an 18-year sobriety coin, often awarded in 12-step programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
"XVIII????," the caption read. The "Mockingbird" rapper wrote nothing more — no touching post thanking his support system or even an explanation of the emblem he was holding. It was very much an "if you know, you know" type of post, an intimate personal moment he opted to share with the public.
"Proud of you big bro," his brother Nathan Mathers wrote in the comments.
"Yessir! Keep it up," wrote fellow Detroit rapper Big Sean.
18 years ago would put us in Spring 2008, a year before the release of Eminem's 2009 albumRelapse — an album which not coincidentally is about rehabilitation and drug addiction. It was his big comeback album after years away from making music, with songs like "We Made You" and "3 a.m." The album received mixed reception upon its release. Even Eminem himself isn't super fond of it.
"Relapse is something that I looked back on in a few years and cringed at," he said in an interview (via Hip-Hop Hero). "I was like, ‘Jesus Christ’. I didn’t know I was doing that many accents. I started on this weird serial killer vibe and wanting to talk crazy.”
