Family concert invites toddlers to the museum
Toddlers, music and museums. Can they come together? Most concerts are addressed to older audiences who sit quietly, with their phones on silent and clap politely when the performance is over. Some of these concerts are family-friendly, yet this upcoming one at the AGLeventis Gallery is specifically designed for infants! Who says toddlers under five have to miss out on musical events?
The Prometheas String Quartet, early years educator Rebecca Katsaris and music educator Christina Charalambidou team up with the Nicosia Gallery for another exciting concert for young children up to five years old.
On April 26, they present the Spring Melodies concert, taking listeners on a journey from Vivaldi’s Spring composition to Piazzolla’s Spring. In between, stops at beloved compositions from all around the world will create a charming, floral soundscape, inspired by the season.
In charge of the music are Nikos Pittas and Iraklis Mitellas on violin, Nicholas Papageorgiou on viola and Miranda Papaneokleous on violoncello. They will perform twice on April 26, first at 10.15am in an hour-long concert for infants up to two years old and again at 11.45am for children aged 3 to 5.
“Children and parents will have a unique opportunity to enjoy the exceptional performance of the musicians while participating in activities that foster musicality and enhance their connection to music through creative play and exploration,” say organisers. “Artworks will accompany the performance of the musical pieces from the permanent Collections of the AG Leventis Gallery.”
