Netflix Announces More Good News for 'Law & Order' Fans
Law & Order is officially back on Netflix for the first time in more than a decade, although only two seasons of the iconic police procedural are now available on the app.
However, more seasons and episodes are coming soon, according to the latest from What's on Netflix.
What seasons of 'Law & Order' are currently streamable on Netflix?
As of today, April 20, Netflix subscribers can access Seasons 21 and 22 of Law & Order, which were the first two seasons back for the show after a nearly 12-year hiatus.
Season 21 ran on NBC from February 24-May 19, 2022. With 10 episodes, it is the shortest Law & Order season in the show's storied history.
Season 22, which consisted of a full allotment of episodes (22), ran from September 22, 2022-May 18, 2023. These two installments featured Anthony Anderson, Camryn Manheim, Hugh Dancy, Odelya Halevi and Sam Waterston in starring roles, alongside Jeffrey Donovan (Season 21) and Mehcad Brooks (Season 22) and several prominent guest stars.
When are more episodes of 'Law & Order' arriving on Netflix?
Originally, What's on Netflix reported that this first Law & Order drop could contain some classic seasons, based on having found official title artwork housed within Netflix that corresponded with Seasons 8 and 19.
Obviously, this isn't the case, with only the first two revival season currently available to stream. However, more Law & Order seasons will be arriving on Monday, May 18, says What's on Netflix's Kasey Moore.
"It is common for longer-running licensed shows that Netflix picks up to arrive as selective batches rather than the complete catalog," Moore explains. "That’s already the case for Law & Order elsewhere. With Peacock, despite being NBCUniversal’s in-house platform, it only hosts a much smaller 9-season selection of the flagship show. Hulu remains the best place to stream the classic eras, as the platform currently holds the complete 20-season original run."
Perhaps we'll be seeing some vintage Jerry Orbach, Benjamin Bratt, S. Epatha Merkerson, Paul Sorvino and Jill Hennessy performances on our screens soon.
