GOP warns Trump might be acting out of humiliation, following embarrassing WSJ report
GOP analyst Sarah Longwell issued a dark warning on a Bulwark podcast episode after the Wall Street Journal published details about President Donald Trump's response to Iran shooting down an American fighter jet on Good Friday.
According to the report, Trump's aides kept him out of the room during critical moments of the airman rescue mission because they believed his impatience would be unhelpful.
Managing editor Sam Stein described the report as "damning" and "embarrassing."
Longwell theorized the Iran war is being stoked by Trump's subconscious, as removing him from the situation produced the best outcome. She warned the situation could deteriorate dangerously if Trump feels cornered or humiliated.
The analyst suggested a pattern, if Trump becomes trapped and fears humiliation jeopardizing his "Art of the Deal" image, he might resort to military action.
"I think he could start bombing things for real," Longwell warned.
