Iran says ready for renewed war amid U.S. military buildup
Tasnim News Agency reported that Iran is preparing for the possible of renewed conflict following recent U.S. military movements in the region.
The report said late Sunday that shifts in United States military deployments indicate heightened readiness and a possible escalation scenario.
According to Tasnim, U.S. forces have repositioned warships and used heavy transport aircraft, including C-5 and C-17 planes, to move military equipment.
Iran is said to be considering two parallel scenarios, including the possibility that the U.S. buildup is intended as psychological pressure to gain leverage in ongoing negotiations.
The developments come amid rising regional tensions and continued diplomatic efforts to contain the crisis. Tensions escalated sharply after U.S. forces seized an Iranian cargo vessel in regional waters, disabling and boarding the ship in a high-profile operation.
The move was confirmed by Donald Trump, who said the vessel had attempted to bypass a naval blockade. In response, Iranian forces reportedly launched drones toward U.S. naval vessels operating nearby, marking a rare direct escalation at sea.
While no confirmed damage or casualties were reported, the incident raised concerns over security in key waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump has warned that the U.S. could escalate further if no agreement is reached with Iran, linking military pressure to ongoing diplomatic efforts.
He has also signalled that the naval blockade would remain in place until a broader deal is finalised. Iran has condemned recent U.S. actions as violations of international law and said it is ready to respond if further escalation occurs.
Tehran has also linked any return to negotiations to conditions including the lifting of the blockade. Analysts say the combination of military buildup and stalled diplomacy increases the risk of renewed confrontation, even as both sides keep channels for negotiation open.
