Matt Fitzpatrick and His Wife Recently Announced Big Personal News
Matt Fitzpatrick entered the final round of the RBC Heritage with a three stroke lead over World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler.
The 31-year-old Englishman notched his first bogey of the final round on the 18th hole at Harbour Town Golf Links, falling back to 18-under and into a tie for first place with Scheffler.
Fitzpatrick hit a stellar approach shot as the pair replayed No. 18 in a playoff, recording a bounce-back birdie to win the RBC Heritage for the second time in his career. This win marked the fourth of his PGA Tour career.
Fitzpatrick recorded his third career win at the 2026 Valspar Championship in late March.
Just a few days after his victory at Innisbrook Golf Resort, Fitzpatrick announced some major personal news with his wife, Katherine Gaal.
The married couple are expecting their first child together.
"We can’t wait to meet our baby. Thank you @maya_schauffele for capturing the moment," she wrote in the announcement.
Katherine was born and raised in New Jersey and was named the Miss New Jersey USA pageant runner-up in 2013. She attended Penn State University, where she graduated with a double major in finance and broadcast journalism.
Katherine and Matt first publicly debuted their relationship with an Instagram post in January 2023. The couple got engaged in September of that same year.
Katherine accompanied Fitzpatrick to the 2026 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club, where she served as her husband's caddy in the annual Par 3 Contest.
Fitzpatrick finished T18 at the Masters with a 4-under final score.
